Promoting Digital Financial Services in Tanzania

DrivenData is excited to be partnering with, who received a grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, to explore ways to promote digital financial services in Tanzania.

Services like mobile money (using mobile phones to store and send money) allow people to access and actively use financial services that they have never been able to before. Mobile money in Kenya (M-PESA) has seen widespread adoption and use across its population, but no other country has been able to repeat this success and people aren’t sure why.

In this project, DrivenData will work closely with the team to combine human-centered design with data science in order to illuminate this question. We want to understand how people use these services today and prototype new approaches for increasing engagement.
